Kanakasava, also known as Kanakasavam, is an Indian traditional Ayurvedic formulation used to treat lung-related problems including asthma, breathing difficulty, and coughing[1]. It contains Datura (Datura metel), Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), Dhataki (Woodfordia fruticosa), and Grape (Vitis vinifera) as main ingredients helpful in treating various conditions and boosting immunity[2].

According to Ayurveda, Kanakasava helps balance Kapha and remove excess mucus from the lungs, providing relief from the symptoms of asthma. This Kapha balancing property also helps reduce the cough. 1. Asthma

Asthma is an inflammatory condition in which the airways to the lungs swell and narrow. It can make breathing difficult and trigger coughing. According to Ayurveda, the main doshas involved in asthma are Vata and Kapha. The vitiated ‘Vata’ combines with deranged ‘Kapha dosha’ in the lungs causing obstruction in the respiratory passage. This results in difficulty in breathing. This condition is known as Swas Roga (asthma). Kanakasava can help control the symptoms of asthma and gives relief in case of breathlessness. Consuming Kanakasava helps balance Kapha and controls the excessive secretion of mucous from the lungs. This gives relief from the symptoms of asthma.

2. Cough
