Talisadi Churna is a herbal formulation commonly used in managing disorders of the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. It has expectorant and helps to control cough, sore throat, and asthma by balancing the Kapha dosha and expectorant nature. Talisadi is also useful for anorexia or loss of appetite because it improves digestion by breaking the food particles in the intestine and by enhancing the secretion of digestive juices. Regular use of Talisadi Churna increases digestive fire and helps to correct indigestion due to its Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestion) properties. It can be taken with honey or ghee twice a day preferably after meals. Patients with high sugar levels should consult their doctor before using Talisadi Churna due to its high sugar content.[2][4]

1. Cough
A cough is commonly known as Kapha disorder in Ayurveda and is generally caused by the accumulation of mucus in the respiratory tract. Talisadi Churna is an effective herb in managing cough and cold due to its Kapha balancing property. It controls cough, releases mucus, and clears air passages, thus allowing the patient to breathe freely.
2. Sore throat
A sore throat is caused due to the imbalance of Kapha doshas. This leads to irritation in the throat due to the accumulation of toxins in the form of mucus and the person experiences a mild cough. Talisadi Churna reduces the accumulation of mucus and provides relief from sore throat due to its Kapha balancing property[18].
3. Asthma
According to Ayurveda, the main doshas involved in asthma are Vata and Kapha. The vitiated ‘Vata’ combines with deranged ‘Kapha dosha’ in the lungs causing obstruction in the respiratory passage. This results in difficulty in breathing. This condition is known as Swas Roga (asthma). Talisadi Churna can help control the symptoms of asthma and give relief from breathlessness by balancing Vata and reducing Kapha. This is due to its Ushna (hot) nature.
4. Anorexia
Anorexia is also termed as a loss of appetite. In this condition, people suffer from an intense fear of gaining weight and can become very thin. According to Ayurveda, the low digestive fire (Mand Agni) may affect the digestion process, resulting in the formation of Ama (toxic remains in the body due to improper digestion). This might lead to anorexia, also known as Aruchi in Ayurveda. Talisadi Churna is one of the effective Ayurvedic preparations which helps to manage the formation of Ama by digesting it due to its Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestion) properties. It also helps brings the Agni (digestive fire) to its normal state. Altogether, it helps improve one's appetite.
5. Indigestion
Indigestion, also known as dyspepsia and stomach upset, is a state of an incomplete process of digestion. It can be characterized by a sensation of pain or discomfort in the upper abdominal region accompanied by a feeling of fullness, bloating, and flatulence. According to Ayurveda, indigestion is termed as Agnimandya. This occurs due to an imbalance of Pitta dosha. Whenever the consumed food is left undigested due to Mand Agni (low digestive fire), it results in the formation of Ama (toxic remains in the body due to improper digestion), causing indigestion. Talisadi Churna helps to reduce the symptoms of indigestion due to its property of balancing Pitta and Kapha Dosha. This in turn helps to digest the Ama and facilitates the Agni (digestive fire) to work properly.
